I do a similar thing, in that I don't wear the day's hiking clothes to 
sleep.  When I'm done hiking for the day, I will wash up (swim or warm water 
+ washcloth), then dress into my evening clothes.  I don't sleep as well 
when my skin is grubby from the day's activities.
