I don't know of any public transportation on the pass.
A couple of friends of mine from Sonora told me the hitching was very good.
They were right.
The one hour trip west to the town of Sonora usually only takes one ride.
That would be your closest town.
Greyhound services that town.

To the east from the trail your map may say Sonora Junction.  There's no 
town there.
