Greetings,

I am just back from Section F and part of G, up to Kennedy Meadows. I hiked
just before part of the surge, but still ran into quite a few hikers. A
very enjoyable section all together.

McIver's Spring is no longer running. There is an impromptu cache at the
road down to Yellow Jacket Spring, but as they say, "don't count on it".

The Kelso and Bird Spring caches were very helpful. Thanks Mary, who I met
while waiting for a ride at Walker Pass. She was going the other way, but
stopped to say hello.

I also met Pete Fish and company doing trail work near McIver's Spring.
They shared some water and dinner. A very welcome surprise!

Kennedy Meadows is busy as expected. I got a ride down without too much
trouble. As for up on my next trip, maybe there will be some dependable way
up next year. I hear the taxi service in Ridgecrest changed hands and they
are not real interested in this ride. We'll see. It is not a bad hitch if
there early in the morning or later in the day. The only problem is the
road up from the highway is not anywhere near a town, so you do stand in the
middle of nowhere.

Thanks to all the cachers, maintainers, and trail angels in general!
