Here, in France, the Ultra lite gear is a reallity
only if you make your own by yourself, we dont have
Golite or compagny like this, here the market is very
traditional, Patagonia and North Face are well known
but very expensive and it's not what i call Ultra lite
stuff.
I lke very much those "little" compagnies you have in
the US, like ULA, Gossamer, Six moon, Tarptent,
Western Mountaineering...we dont have this kind of
smart thru-hiker oriented compagnies, you are very
lucky cause hiking lite is an accesible reallity, here
it's still a luxury, iam lucky enough to spend 3
months per year in the US, so i can buy everything i
need...besides, many hikers start to make their own
ultra lite gear here, the US market is very inspiring
for us, actually my only french peace of gear is my
Bic lighter...!
