as has been pointed out, having hikers carry water from scissors to the 
cache pretty much defeats the purpose of the cache, and creates even 
more uncertainty about the status of said cache (which, nevertheless, 
should always be treated as uncertain anyway)

i have a better idea... get some guys who actually *want* to go out and 
help stock the cache because

a) they enjoy being involved in the hiking community and would like to 
do their part to help hikers avoid potential heat exhaustion in a 
notorious stretch of desert trail (lots of folks come from non-desert 
places not quite knowing what to expect)

b) they themselves previously hiked the trail and made use of the cache, 
and would very much like to pay the favor forward
