I think I am still going to get the SnowPeak umbrella to test it out against the GoLite Chrome Dome.  I think the gray color of the SnowPeak will be about the same protection as the ChromeDome.  The silver color of the GoLite might just be marketing.  I would like to see some scientific comparisons before I decided one was a better color than another.  
 
Plus, the size difference between the two umbrellas might or might not be a big deal. The fold up design of the SnowPeak is nice too.
 
The best way to tell is to test them and see, which I will do. :-)
