Anyone have a general notion as to when the trail will be relatively snow
free between Old Station and Ashland this year?
Thanks,

This all depends on your skill level and timing of the hike. This week, you
would be mostly hiking on allot of soft snow above 4000ft. But by Memorial
Day, you might be down to 10% or less snow above 6000ft if there are no new
snow storms. If you can be patient, and with another 4wks, I'll have a good
feel for this stretch. I actually have a better feel for it when it is a
high snow year, and this is a low snow year, and it ain't over. I know Sec
O- R pretty well on snow conditions each year; but there can be great
variability in snow depth conditions across the Klamath Mtns, and I'm not
ready to guess today. If you are impatient, contact me offline, and I'll
check my sources; but today it's too early for the Alps, Marbles, and SV to
Ashland above 3500ft.
