[pct-l] Section A help and advice

Dear kind PCT-Lophites: i'm going to call Cleveland
NF Monday and see what they say, but according to the
headline on their website, the trail in Hauser Canyon
is still open. I take seriously L-Rod's post, and
Sly's response, but with so much differing info, for
now i'm going to keep planning to hike from Campo to
Mt. Laguna next weekend. (Is this a section hike, or
possibly the beginning of the longest one-year
thru-hike ever??? Time will tell...)

So, i have questions and favors to ask:

-Are any of the roads, like into Hauser Canyon for
instance, ok for a low-clearance 2wd vehicle? I'd
like to put down some of my own advance water caches
since it sounds that there will be ZERO water that i
can count on. The question is where it's possible.

-Is there any general conditions advice? I'm
expecting hot days, freezing windy nights, few snakes,
and followable trail-tread.

and the biggie:

-Can anyone help me with transportation from Mt.
Laguna to the border? I haven't been able to turn up
any public transit possibilities. My plan would be to
leave my car somewhere (where?) around Mt. Laguna, get
to the border somehow, and hike back to my car. I
could go to the border on Friday (ideal), Thursday, or
Wednesday (less ideal, but still ok). Early morning
or pre-dawn is best, but if someone can help, i'll be
flexible and go anytime.

thanks for any input!
markv
