PCT Mom is giving very good advice. Hawkeye and I did the Stevens Pass to Trinity route in the last week of August. The eastern "detour" is pretty rugged in good weather. Lots of dead falls and heavy vegetation. The long down hill from Boulder Pass and going over Little Giant could be very dangerous with snow on the ground. The river crossings were about about upper leg deep (w are both over 6 feet tall) at that time and may be running much deeper after the current rain and snow fall. Hondo

We have 2 hikers who left 4 days ago who have returned due to the heavy snowfall in the mts north of Skykomish. It's supposed to rain and snow up there continually for the next week. Another hiker called from Stehekin and warned hikers NOT to take the trail out of Steven's Pass. He suggests the road walk to Cole's Corner and then to Trinity trailhead. But even the hiker who had taken the Trinity route came back. Please be careful. The hike is not worth your life. Roxanne already had to be airlifted out due to injury.

PCT MOM......local worry wort !!!!
