Hello there,

I have a hiker in the Cabazon to Campo sections. Water is an issue. Can
anyone tell me if they can confirm there is water out there? We need a quick
response please.

Trying to be an info angel

I checked the Old fire perimeter and it is a fair distance west of the
western edge of this fire.I estimate about 3.8 miles from crab flats rd

Basically the fire is between Delmar Mtn Rd & Crab Flats Rd just about
10 trail miles give or take 0.3 miles or so...

The Perimeter is a ways back from Crab Flats Rd though on the west (1.1
miles EST) & nearly to Delmar Mtn Rd on the east (0.75 miles EST)

The last time I was through that way there was a lot of dead trees. this
is probably burning pretty hot as a result.

I checked the perimeter for 2100hrs on 9/17 and there was no extension
worth noting to the east & west. There was a retraction on the north an
a slight extension south in places.

Hopefully they'll keep personnel on scene until we get some rain. So we
won't have a Butler3 Fire!

where the Old Fire in 03 petered out when it merged with the previous decade
burn of the Willow Fire. The Eastern Portion of the PCT and most of Holcomb
Valley has old growth timber and this year is very dry. Little Bear
Springs does have an outhouse with some rustic ammenities and this area has
most definitely burned. My guess with the 3 or 4 maps available, a friend
in Running Springs, and my knowledge of the area is that at least 6 miles of
the PCT (as the crow flies) has been affected but probably closer to 10
trail miles. The quick movement of the fire has slowed down and now the
fire is reburning what it previously sped through on Friday and Saturday.
Matt's latest map is very accurate and helpful.
