Arno,

Glad it is your two cents you are playing with.  For me, I chose not to pack flip-flops at the start and by the Saufleys I was ready to steel the first pair that fit me.  Thank goodness no one was carrying a pair in my size.  I finally picked up a pair and wore them every night.  Sure, my trail runners were comfortable when I was walking 30-40 mile days, but I really enjoyed slipping them off once I got to camp.

I suppose this is why we should each hike our own hike and for the newbies, consider all of this advise as simply that.
