The Guidebooks are very useful and contain sections on preparation and trip
planning.

This list is an excellent source of information -- every question you could
think of has been addressed, and is in the archives:

The PCTA's FAQs and info on trail preparation is excellent. PCTA membership
not only supports the trail, but will entitle you to receiving their
magazine. You can also go to their store to buy the guidebooks:
www.pcta.org/planning/before.asp

Yogi's PCT Handbook is also outstanding:
www.pcthandbook.com

Trail Journals is the ultimate resource for finding tales of the experience
of others:

rail

PostHoler also has a tremendous amount of information:
www.postholer.com

For hike preparation and current water conditions in the southern sections:
www.4jeffrey.net/pct/index.htm

There's dozens of other sites for maps, gear, etc., but this is enough to
get you started and keep you busy for a while.

i just signed up for the "digest". i am planning on hiking the pct in one
year and am starting to research it through books, blogs and the collective
experiences of those of have done it and those who have failed. i am not
sure who i am even replying too but i was wondering how i could get involved
and who i could begin to talk to about the logistical aspects of food and
route planning. thanks.
