While intellectually I can accept that thru-hikers come to take hitchhiking for granted --- I've nevertheless planned my trip so that I should only *have* to hitchhike once (or rather, twice if counting both to town and then back to the trail). I might well end up hitching more, but I feel more comfortable having it as an *option*. Brian Lewis
