Bewary of the water at the bridge over the Kern River 11.5 miles north of Kennedy Meadows. Last year, several through-hikers got sick shortly after leaving KM. This was widely considered to be a likely source of the illnesses as the swallows nest under the bridge supports - a likely cause for the poor water quality.
