I went down to my pedicure gal and had a foot and leg massage the other day.
I have had a bad right foot for a long time and limp when I walk. Well,
she worked on the right foot and now I am great. What magic she did.
Unbelievable. Amazing. She is an Asian healer. No pain. No soreness.

I am now in training for my 2012 PCT Thru Hike. By the way, Stinker
the PCT Trail Skunk now has a buddy. There are two of them. Also,
I am thinking of hiking in Lyle Canyon Yosemite in October if the road
is still open up there.

Cheers, Switchback the Trail Pirate

Did Scott and Joe make Manning on 8/18?

Actually, I have been finding all this Joe and Scott thing from you
Rheinhold to a little over the top.

When I posted about Monstro ( Adam ), you were all in a panic that somebody
that did not announce his intentions was somehow possibly going to upstage
your buddies.

I admire speed and endurance, I do not admire the constant trumpeting of
their attempt that has occurred over the previous months.

All the publicity and the trumpeting and the very public announcements of
this attempt has put it in the public forum, and as such is open to
criticism. To tell detractors to "take a hike" does Scott and Joe a
disservice.

Let them speak for themselves, rather than trying to share the spotlight
with them. Maybe you should be out hiking yourself. Have you ever done a
thruhike??

Here's an interesting journal entry of how a few PCT hikers (Flippy, Slider
and Craig) diverted a tragedy in the making:

OK OK,

I've been waiting for one of the stalwarts of ALDHA-West (or
W(est)LDHA?) to trumpet the upcoming gathering. So here goes.

Got my gasette a couple of days ago with the gathering announcement and
registration form. There's more info over on the WLDHA web site
http://www.aldhawest.org/default.asp.

Erin and Hig McKittrick will share their epic 12-month, 4000 mile (6400
kilometer) along the west coast from Seattle all the way to the Aleutian
Islands. Sounds great.

All you stove braggarts will have a chance to prove your brag with the
stove race and/or your trail food is better than anyone else.

If others are interested I'll bring my slide projector (Kodak Carousel
with stack loader) and we can share slides of long ago trips and
scenery. Let me know.

Jonathan Ley is presenting a workshop on photographing your epics.

Once again some of us who are long in tooth and silver on top will
discuss the evolution of long distance backpacking.

I don't know if Switchback will be sailing to there in his pirate sloop.

I've already made my reservation; make your now.

I will be there! :)

I am scheduled to speak and do a presentation on trail food. I'll be doing a couple of no-cook lunches and desserts.

Sounds like a good presentation. If they are still in need of presentors, I wonder if we can get those amazing role model long distance record holders, Scott and Joe to due a presentation on their recent hike. Based on all the recent posts on this forum, I know that this would be an interesting topic.

Elevator,

I think that is a great idea too. I have been trying to contact Scott for two months to invite him to present- and no word yet. Perhaps now that he is done?
