Dear PCT Enthusiasts ~

Despite all the haranguing that occurs on the PCT-L, I still
love this forum. I stumbled onto the PCT-L in February 2007.
Hiking has always been a joy and I had quit smoking and wanted
to get back into shape. One thing led to another and voila, I find
Postholer.com, the best trail journal site out there! By sheer luck,
I stumble onto Len Roughgarden's trail journal and began tracking
his journey on Google Earth and topo maps on the Backpacker.com
web site.  Completed in 132 days, 20 miles per day, six zero days;
not too shabby for a just-retired 62-year old engineer. I fell in love
with the PCT.

The PCT-L is an excellent source for information, discussion, tips
and advice, rules and regs, and debate. Sure, you get the
provocateurs, the trolls, the irreverent and weird, but most of the
participants are pretty cool. Let's loosen up a little and remember
what it was that first attracted us to the list, and to the PCT!

Wes
