Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque... take your pick. In all cases, the urban boundary is also the USFS Wilderness boundary, with Wilderness trails located in sight of backyard swimming pools.

Of course, 2 miles into the Wilderness, the crowds tend to evaporate, such is the attract-repel nature of the desert ranges. So Carolyn's (FS's) "really busy place" outside Portland may be unimpeachable, depending on your particular yardstick.
