This is OK in theory, and would be the point of having the FAQ, but as
some people have pointed out, some of the answers change from year to year.

Unless someone keeps the FAQ current, newbies will either start out with
outdated information, or they will STILL ask the same old questions to
find out what information in the FAQ is current, and what information is
outdated.

Just to illustrate:

Depends on several factors: how much snow is there in the Sierras, how
fast is it melting, how strong a hiker are you, do you plan to get in
shape on the trail, do you want a social experience, or do you prefer to
hike alone, how comfortable are you hiking in the snow.

That answer may change this year with the completion of the PCT Atlas

> Where/how do I resupply

There are new resupply options every year, and old ones become unavailable.

> Northbound or Southbound.

Usually NB is preferred, but in a year with heavy snowpack in the south
and light snowpack in the north, the answer may be different.

> What sort of gear do I need.

Depends on your level of experience, your need for comfort in camp, your
willingness to make due in harsh conditions, and other factors.
