Yep, I totally agree with you. I try to go out of my way to answer all 
questions
especially those that we hear so often. I got flame mails for asking about 
when
to start when I first joined. Messages that included "read the archives, 
stupid"
and "god, not that question again", etc...

I think the point of this list is to help those who would like to hike the 
PCT. And
to share information about the PCT in general.

The only reason I am pro FAQ is it could help new members. Then they could
ask more specific questions to clarify. I just think it is funny that even 
the topic
of a FAQ is causing a argument.

If you have any question, no matter how stupid you think it might be, I'll 
be happy
to help with no sarcasm/judgment. On or off the list.

On many lists its the people who are tired of answering questions who stop
using it not the people have questions.

I understand why one gets tired of general back packing questions, Those of
us from the East though are new to bearcans and iceaxes for long distance
hiking so have questions. At this point I'm discouraged from asking
questions about PCT specific questions on weather, water, etc
