I was fumbling around on ebay, looking for PCT material and found that the Pink Motel is for sale.  I would provide the link, but the string is far too long.  Go to Ebay and search under "Pacific Crest Trail" and you'll find it for $130,000.00.  This would nice to have back as an active stop for hikers!

A cabin on 5 acres on the Pacific Crest
Trail.  Known by many hikers all over the world as "THE PINK MOTEL". 
Thousands of hikers have stayed here over the past years.  I personaly
lived here for about 3 years... Selling on Ebay.  Green powered with
satalite TV and Internet(you will have to get it turned back on). 
Solar and wind powered, city power is about 1,000 feet away, water is
by water tank, a well can be drilled... There is a creek that runs
about 1/2 of the year about 60 feet from the property... There is also
a couple of trees that don't need watering(on the property)... So, I
really beleave there is water on the property.  Secluded yet about 5
minutes to Casino Morongo and Cabazon Outlet stores.  About 15 minutes
from down town Palm Springs.  Direct access from private road.  The
Pacific Crest Trail(runs from Mexico to Canada) crosses the property on
the Southeast corner.  This is improved property with a structure on
it.  This is located in a conservation area with 360 degree views.  It
has a beautiful rock fireplace and the ceiling, drywall and
insulation are about 1 1/2 years old.  The structure is very sound to
the best of my knowledge... There is a "funky" add on to the cabin that
will need dealing with.  Lots of work has been done... Still needs
work.  Living here is a little like camping out.  Also there is an
orginization that is buying and has bought other surrounding
properties.  One of the neighbors told me he is working on a deal with
them.  $50,000 for 5 acres with a $1.00 a year lease back deal for
life!  They only want the land... Very interesting proposal!  I have
NOT personaly spoken with them... I am currently out of the area.  So,
this can go a number of ways... You could buy this and possibly get the
same deal or you could buy this and have one of the last privately
owned parcels in this area.  At any rate, you can almost be guaranteed
PRIVACY for a long time to come.  I "MAY" consider financing with a 50%
