Hey Squatch- Never heard of John Stanley (except for the 18th century English composer, doubtful to be him) but from what I know the Pony Express never went through that area. It was more north, over the Sierras, through Sacramento and into Oakland and SF. There are a bunch of Pony Express historical markers near where I live.
