Summer 2008 saw an abundance of aggressive mosquitoes in Oregon.  I wore nylon pants and a nylon shirt that yes, the mosquitoes bit through.  I found that applying repellant to my clothes helped tremendously.  I also treated my outer clothing with Sawyer's Premethrium, which helped for up to two washings.  I wore an 2006 Ex Officio cap with side drape, that still repelled bugs on my head and neck, but not my face.  For that, I wore an OR headnet, but not the one with the ring.  At Diamond Lake, I bought a pair of lightweight stretch gloves that had a coating on the palms and fingers that could be used as liner gloves.  Diamond Lake attracts people who fish, so you may be able to find these gloves in the 'fishing department' at sporting goods stores.  They were inexpensive (less than $10) and they're fairly warm.  In fact, I wore them this fall when I sold tickets at the football games.  I also wore short gaiters, which I think helped keep the
pesky creatures off my lower legs and ankles.
