hi adam, you'll find once you hit the trail that you will meet others 
and naturally fall into a partnership or group with like-minded people 
who share your pace and style. it's just the nature of how this trail 
(and thru-hiking in general) works. formal partnerships arranged in 
advance between strangers just don't tend to work out on the pct. don't 
hesitate to start solo. i guarantee you'll begin to forge many strong 
friendships within the first few days of your hike.
