Stove fuel alcohol is plentiful and pretty easy to locate along the trail.

Yellow bottle HEET and Denatured Alcohol (DNA) found in hardware store paint sections are interchangeable. Either will work well in an alcohol stove.

Red bottle HEET (ISO-HEET) works, but burns dirty and should only be used if you can't locate yellow bottle HEET or DNA.

Many times you'll find a partial quart can in the hiker box, as someone had to buy it, but only needed a pint or so.

There may be times when you'll need to carry a little more than you like, but with decent planning (eg Yogi's pages) you'll know about those areas.
