Very little Rain

I'll use ziplocks to store a few things, keep them sorted and visible.  Replace them as they wear.

I'll keep a trash bag or the clear bags that Gossamer Gear sells to put INSIDE my pack and line it as needed.
This protects the bag and gives my gear full coverage.

For a lot to most of the trail, I'll use a poncho/tarp that drapes over my pack


in other words, I'll change the method with gear changes.
