Non-linear hiking seems to get a bad rap from thru hikers. And some of us 
who practice it seem to buy into the notion that it's less important than a 
thruhike That's why HYOH was invented. Everyone's hike is important to them 
and should be respected by others.
The phrase, "my own personal Everest" evokes what kinds of  obstacles any 
hiker faces. Some people's weekend hike is as much personal mental and 
physical effort as a thru-hiker's week or month.

Not all of us are lemmings....
