The small Sony radio that has the best reception in both FM and AM, excellent sound,
and works for around 50 hours on one aaa battery is the Sony SRF-S84.
It never was sold in the US but it used to be imported, modified to improve performance,
and sold at Fixup dot net.
They no longer sell it but it is still available on Ebay.
The information needed to make the modifications is still available on Fixup.

Somebody asked about the excellent MP3 player that also works on a single aaa battery,
the Sandisk m260.
It has been discontinued but it is also available on Ebay.
It has a good FM receiver but the one on the Sony SRF-S84 is much better.
