Hi Halfmile ~

The Suunto Core measures the barometric pressure and 
and sets off a "storm alarm" if it drops precipitously over 
a short period of time.  It works alarmingly well.  We've
been experiencing storm activity here in So Cal recently
and the Suunto has been amazing.  Hope that answers
your question.
