[pct-l] Leaving a trace

Something to consider:

I had fifty micro-carabiners made up in the following manner:

They weigh 1/10 ounce each. I plan to carry ten max at any one time,
I figure I can afford the ounce in spite of my overweight sleeping
bag. The idea is give one to anyone who provides special assistance
along the way - gives me a lift into town, retrieves my resupply
package with smile (or no smile, maybe), etc. Something simple for
them to hang on a key chain, maybe. I hope I get far enough to run
out. (I do wish I hadn't put the date on there.)

Unfortunately these things cost money and if I was on a tight budget
I'd probably pass on this particular item. And they're no substitute
for gas money. But the point is - maybe you can come up with a clever
and cheap way to leave a (positive) trace with those you meet, that
know nothing of the trail.
