[pct-l] counterbalancing with water

well it just occured to me (it takes me awhile to catch on :-D) that this might be an option, to carry the water in front in the desert. has anyone ever tried this, does it work well, am i stupid? ( don't answer that!!) what are some of the ways to carry this weight besides in your pack. thanks.
