Fishermen in the Sunderbans wear masks on the back of their heads to
thwart tiger attacks

wonder, would such a strategy make PCT hiking in cougar country any
safer? Maybe a controlled study with hikers with/without masks and
with/without backpacks full of catnip and/or concentrated deer-scent
would be in order. Perhaps a new cottage industry would be born out of
the perceived need for titanium/cuben-fiber/carbon fiber backward
masks, or, we could just outsource the mask-orders to the fishermen of
the Sunderbans, so they could just make hiker/biker-masks and not have
to fish in tiger infested swamps....
