Rocks offer so many multiple uses that you should seriously considering adding them to your ultra-light hiking strategy!
1. Great for throwing a marauding bears.
2. Great for counterbalancing your food.
3. Some types can be used like chalk for writing.
4. Clinical trials have shown that concussions to one side of the head, may be reverseable by hitting the other side of the head with a rock!
5. If you think about it, everything comes from rocks directly or indirectly, so the reverse could be true, anything can be made from a rock!
6. They're great for training hikes; climbing up, in your pack, etc.
7. Some kinds of rocks are edible.
8. You can wipe with a rock; no TP necessary.
9. They're organic.
10. They look pretty on your finger or around your neck.
11. If you're clever, you might even trick your hiking companion into carrying them for you!
12. They're plentiful and cheap.
13. They're durible.
14. They're colorful.
15. You can name your rock, like the old "pet rocks" and have your own, non-complaining hiking companion.
16. Pebbles in your mouth can help with thirst.
17. They're great for removing caluses.
18. They can start AND stop bleeding.
19. They're great for removing dents in your cook pot.
20. Strategically placed in a shoe can keep you awake for hours.
and many, many other uses.? So, consider adding this great, fundamental item to your pack and simplify your hiking strategy.
