Switchback,
This is really great news for backpackers...41 miles per gallon you say?

Forty one miles a day is about what I averaged on my JMT Fast Packs.

You mean we could leave behind the pots & the pans, the stove & the fuel,
the food & the water, the purification & filtration devises and the bear
canisters and do 41 mile days on just one gallon of our favorite booze?

This is dynamite...and we would never be at risk of dehydration because
we would be on a liquid diet, drinking plenty and singing all the way.

Being that it is the 4th of July I will test your theory...maybe even
try to get more than 41 miles per gallon...hic.

I will keep you hosted...hic, I mean posted...hic.

Switchback writes:

A recent study conducted by Harvard University found that the average
American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study by the American Medical
Association found that Americans drink, on average,
22 gallons of alcohol a year.

This means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon. Kind of
makes you proud to be an to American."
