OK. I'm looking at the Plumas NF Web site fire information page at:

http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/plumas/

It appears, from "Pacific Crest Trail Closure Order 05-08" PDF, that
the decision to EXTEND the closure from the south end of Bucks Lake
Wilderness (Bucks Summit) to Quincy LaPorte Road was made only on
July 4, by a gal named "Alice Carlton."

Up until now, I'd been carefully reading the official closure map
("sections 1 and 2" Canyon Fire PDF), as running right *along* the
PCT and allowing legal egress as far as Bucks Summit.

Seems pretty clear they've just tacked on the southern closure
officially today.

This isn't an abstract concern for me. I'll be through there in a
couple of weeks, probably. A shuttle from Quincy to Chester would be
... most unpleasant.
