Thanks for the update and your continued contact with the FS. It is great
to hear that there may be some end to this fire closure. I am about ready
to head out on my SOBO section. I plan to be at Beldon on August 15th if
all goes well. Please keep us informed via the PCTL of any updates. I hope
the FS knows that we don't camp..we walk - and can make it thru tough
sections.

Thank you again for your help for the "Thrus" and us "Sectioners" trying to
make the best of a tough fire season. Be safe..

I spoke with Lassen National Forest personnel in Chester. They hope to have

the Cub complex fire contained by Sunday, July 20, but there is no date for
opening the PCT.

Plumas Nat'l Forest representative states that the fire between Quincy/La
Porte road and Belden won't be contained until the end of July and the trail

will be closed for a while after that for cleanup. We can check again July

31st or so.

The Thrus we've met in Chester have all taken the bus from Quincy to
Chester, and it seems that's the way it will be for some weeks yet.

We've given up on the cache, and will concentrate on giving rides between
Chester and the NB trail west of Chester. Aside from just finding thrus in

town and asking if they need rides we haven't quite come up with a plan for
doing this since we live east of Chester, have some other issues, and being
called at any hour is not workable for us. Any ideas?
