[pct-l] call for pct 2002 digital photos!

With all the beautiful PCT dvd's we've seen recently, one year that's
absent (achingly so, for me) is 2002. Did many people hiking that year
take digital photos, or is that just a new-fangled thing these
youngsters are doing these days? :)

I'm
offering to do a slideshow DVD if I can get a good collection of scans
and raw digital photos. I'm assuming that nobody has done 2002 -- if
I'm wrong, let me know (and tell me how I can get a DVD!). If you
want, before you send a bunch of stuff, if you'd like to just tell me
what you could contribute, I'll make an email list and post updates
regularly as to what I have access to -- as soon as it becomes a viable
project, I'll let everyone know and the pictures can start coming in.

I'd
like to cover as many hikers as possible, as well as trail locations.
Because I didn't meet everyone, and do not have a photographic memory
of the trail, please indicate details of who/where/etc. I'm really
open ended as to what direction to take this in. I haven't seen this
on other photo dvd's before, but one idea would be to include an
epilogue with a couple sentences about where people are now (if they
want to provide that info). So, if you have photos, send 'em my way!
If you have ideas for the project, do the same!

The software I'm
messing around with can export to video that's easily playable over the
net, so I could probably make rough cuts available for preview and
comment.

I do not have the capacity to do scans of prints or
slides, so digital photos only. If it's easier than emailing, you can
mail me a memory card and I'll send it right back.

Finally, I
MAY be able to burn personal DVD's. That's to say, if you're
contributing 2002 photos, obviously I can't put in 100 of just *you*,
but I might be able to tailor a custom DVD of your own photos. No
promises yet, but it might just be easy enough. What I'd need from you
is the order in which you'd like the photos to appear, as well as any
subtitle you'd like to see at the bottom of the screen. As our musical
tastes may differ, if you want music, you can send me audio files of
the songs you want (again, in order). No fancy transitions on personal
DVD's, no super-slick menus, but at least you get a personalized DVD.

Let
the digging through your PCT archives begin, and please forward this to
the other 2002 hikers you know! PCT-L and the yahoo group (20 members)
cover only a small part of our hiking class.

Iron Chef (more commonly addressed as "Matt" or "Dad" these days)
