  Hi! I'm planning a section hike starting from Onyx and going up to
Chester or beyond. The earliest we can start is the beginning of
September and possibly hike through the beginning of November. We'll
have ice axes and crampons. Does anyone know when significant snowfall
usually starts in the winter? how long can we safely hike through the
high Sierras? Thanks!
