"I would like to spend 3-4 days tops on the PCT trail "

Here would be a great option. Go in on the east side, out of Lone Pine,
at the Horseshoe Meadow Trailhead. Climb up to Mulkey Pass to meet the
PCT, then hike north along it to Chicken Spring Lake for your first day.
Second day, hike down to the Crossing of the PCT and Rock Creek, and camp
there.
Third day, hike north along Rock Creek into Miter Basin, and camp there.
Fourth day, hike back along the use trail from the area of Rock
Creek/Soldier Lake back to the Cottonwood Pass, then back to the
trailhead.
Only about 5 miles of repeat.

If you only do three days, from the PCT/rock creek crossing, head north on
Rock Creek to the trail that returns to Chickenspring Lake, and go back
over Cottonwood Pass on the third.

Also, the permit for Mulkey Pass as your trailhead, has NO quota, so you
are guaranteed a permit.
