Interpretation of the Wilderness Act can be carried out to the extreme.
Some years ago a new wilderness area manager proposed removing not only 
all bear boxes and cables,
but also all trail signs.
I wonder how many lost hikers we would have without trail signs?
We would have PCT hikers on the CDT  looking for Kennedy Meadows and who 
knows, Scott & Joe
might be at the Grand Canyon at this very moment, scratching their head, 
wondering were they are.

I say God bless trail signs for guiding hikers through the wilderness 
and to the Promised Land.
