This is simply amazing! This is the sense of entitlement that seems to be so prevelent today.

Switchback, you are not thru-hiking, so why take advantage of an offer that this wonderful resort is providing to the thru-hikers? That's BS. You, yourself has spoken about the need to be more aware of our actions along the trail but here is a good example of bad behavior. No ifs, ands or butts.

I am planning to stay at WS on Thursday night before Kickoff in order to give hikers a lift back to KO as I did last year. Sure, I could have lied and said I was a thru-hiker given that I did complete a thru in 2006, but that would have been taking advantage of a wonderful offer this lodge gives to current year thru-hikers.

I'm sure I will take some heat on this, but you are flat out wrong my friend.

Switchback replies: All I know is that when I called the other day, I had no problem getting a cabin for Wednesday and Thursday prior to the Kickoff. I told them I was a PCT hiker, so I could get the discount. I am a PCT Section hiker. I will hike on the trail while I am there. Of course, I did not mention that I would be playing some golf and laying around the pool more than I would be hiking on the trail. Heh, heh, heh.
