I live in the Palm Springs area and take Mission Hill CC members out on
hikes every Saturday. We hike on the PCT as much as possible (because I get
to pick where we hike!). Lately we’ve been hiking on the PCT segments north
of the I-10 Hwy – up through Gold and Teusong Canyons down to the Whitewater
River ending at the old Whitewater Trout Farm that is now owned by the
Wildlife or Wilderness (?) Conservancy. This coming Saturday we’ll do an out
and back hike leaving from the old Trout Farm and hooking up with the PCT
where we’ll hike up the canyon and switchbacks to the “ridge” top.

Here are some HYPERLINK "http://www.flickr.com/photos/gottagolinda/"photos
I took yesterday while checking out the PCT for Saturday’s hike. After the
first 6 photos you’ll see photos from the 7 mile PCT section of trail I
mentioned above. The poppies and other wildflowers in the hills in this
segment made for a Mary Poppins feeling hike. Recent rains are helping keep
the best wildflower season ever going strong. The wildflowers are
unbelievable and the river is running quite strong (for Whitewater River and
MHCC hikers standards, not strong for thru-hikers)

Enjoy. Look forward to meeting the PCT Class of 2008 at ADZ.

Gottago
