Good afternoon, JJ,

While toe-socks would certainly qualify as being "wider", it's hard to 
understand why adding 8 layers of material -- meaning, two additional layers 
in each of the 4 toe spaces -- would be an improvement.  For me, answer is 
to select long, wide shoes and wear thinner, more stretchy socks.
