[pct-l] pants in the desert???

I wear long pants almost everywhere. You don't want to see these legs.
Seriously, I wear long pants in the desert as a little protection from
brush and spines. (But, I find many do wear shorts there.) I usually do
wear zip offs, and while I rarely zip the legs off, I sometimes unzip
them a little to let some air in.

I did get second degree sunburn on the backs of my knees once in the
Sierra. I spent 3 days above treeline with little shade and exposed rock
reflecting the sun back up, lounging near a half-frozen lake playing
cards and having a good time. The blisters formed the third day. I never
would have thought the hollow at the back of the knee would get enough
sun to burn. I learned my lesson and it never happened again.
