[pct-l] Gentlemen, let's discuss underwear.

Hey Scott,

You may want to search the archives on the backcountry.net for a thread last
year called "Taking Care Of The Boys". Lots of participation and
information.

I have had said trouble - sometimes severe - and after advice, this is what
I came to and it helped tremendously. The problem of rubbing is friction
AND salt in the sweat. Here is what worked for me:

1. Spandex like shorts instead of underwear. Spandex is outdated, but same
idea. Go Lite makes a great pair as does Under Armor.
2. Powder the boys. Baby Powder, Monkey Butt, Gold Bond - all work well
3. Rinse and keep said area clean as often as you can, at least every
evening. This reduces the build up of salt.

I had assumed the problem - at least for me - could be cured with increased
air flow. It did not. The removal of the salt and getting all the parts as
separated from skin to skin rubbing as possible . . . Not perfect, but a
great help.

I have heard mentioned cut-off pantyhose as an anti-chaffing underwear
alternative.
Personally I prefer commando air flow.
