Oddly enough a hiker last year, who came to be known as Out of
Order, had the airline lose his backpack on their way (the pack and
him) from Florida to San Diego. I believe the story was that various
trail angels volunteered gear to get him going. The pack eventually
caught up with him.

I took the train.

I have the worst luck when it comes to traveling
on airplanes (they constantly lose my bags, kinda
freakish) and I am worried about getting my gear
from Florida to California for the hike this year.
I am considering mailing my gear to the Campo
Post Office with Express Mail and Insurance, just
to be sure. I dont know about insurance on the
airline bags, if it is available. How is everyone
else handling getting their gear to San
Diego/Campo this year?
