[pct-l] June thru-hike

Paul,

Our hostel is approximately four weeks from the border, and we have seen
hikers in early to mid-July who have finished the trail. It is not easy,
nor advisable, but it can and has been done. Now, whether you want to take
your chances on the heat and push yourself that hard is the question.

Now, if you are one of the fast hikers, and get here in three weeks, you
will catch the tail of the pack moving through here in late June.

Your skills, speed, and motivation are more what will answer your question
rather than if it can be done.

OTOH, many southbounders start in July, so that may be the better option for
you. Good luck with your decision.

L-Rod

Subject: [pct-l] June thru-hike

I've been planning to thru-hike the PCT for 6 months now, and the earliest I
can get out to Campo is around June 1st.? I've read that the earliest time
for southbound thru-hikes would be?July to avoid the deep snows, so that is
out of the question.? Is June 1st too late to start a northbound thru-hike
considering the hot weather and shortage of water??

Thanks,
Paul McCready
