I'd be as worried about running into winter storms up north that late as I
would desert heat, etc.  In a 'normal' year, hikers seem to be able to leave
Manning Pk. as early as mid-June.  Is this a normal year?....Andrea would be
the one to answer that question, but it would put you into the desert during
a theoretically cooler time of year.  Would there be water in caches?  SoCal
Trail Angels can best be asked that one.  Seems like a c*** shoot either way
this year.  Good Luck........
