[pct-l] JMT question

Good afternoon, Kyle,

It looks like your questions got buried in all this "rude behavior"
business. '08 appears to be a moderately low snow year in the Sierras.
It's not quite as low as last year, but still low.

Last year Ideparted Kennedy Meadows 28 May
http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=186126 and arrived at Tuolumne
Meadows early on Jun 12. The snow travel at that time was easy without
crampons or an ice axe. A couple of times each/either would have been
useful, but given those conditions I would again leave them home. Maybe, at
most, I would put screws in my shoes. As always, hiking poles are a great
help.

The problem with water in the Sierras is, most of the time, we can't get
away from it. In June there's water everywhere. Once or twice I got a bit
careless and hiked over big passes without sufficient water in my bottle,
and had to be on the look-out for some melt trickles, but that is only a
minor aggravation. Strange: Walking over hundreds of thousands of tons of
water while wishing for a drink.
