quick version from Big Bear:

-Agua Caliente Creek running a little
-Lost Valley Spring just fine
-Chihuahua VAlley Road house and cache very happening
-138.8 cistern, plenty of funny-colored water.
treated it and it tasted fine.
-Hiker's Oasis cache very full
-Paradise Cafe great, but note that they close at 7pm,
NOT at 8pm.
-If doing the roadwalk into Idyllwild, the fire
station about 6 miles from Paradise Cafe offered us
water. No other sources along the way.
-Plenty of snow and creeklets from Saddle Junction on
past Fuller Ridge. The snow is well-tracked and easy,
at least after it softens at midday. If attempting
the summit, expect to crosscountry over
relatively-easy snow. Have a good topo and patience.
-There are a couple of barely running trickles on the
between Black Mountain Road and the Snow Canyon water
fountain, that were good for collecting a couple of
liters.
-Snow Canyon fountain in high winds: consider large
human wind-blocks, or expect no water to end up in
your bottle.
-Mesa Wind Farm was very nice. There is also a hose
now for when they are closed.
-Whitewater Creek flowing and cold.
-Tons of water crossings on Mission Creek, all
flowing, good water every mile or so until 6000'
-241.7 seasonal creek was flowing and good, about 2
feet wide and 4 inches deep.

Thanks to Scout and Frodo and Rolling Thunder for the
trail magic at Coon Creek Cabin this weekend. Not
just food and drink, but ambience and good people.
