In reading a local newspaper this a.m. a front page article warns of dry conditions (already) in the Shasta-Trinity NF (sections o and p). "Fuels are drying very quickly; "It's extremely dry"; "If we have a dry spring (we are),then a hot, dry summer, the fire danger will be terrifying."

The most recent snow survey reflects the lack of moisture this spring. Several weeks of windy conditions have also contributed to the drying of ground fuels." (Quote by USFS)

The end result is both lack of water and extreme fire dangers will make this area of the pct a bit different than usual. "Let's be careful out there". (what's the name of the TV show where the Sgt of a police squadron says that at the end of each day's briefing??)
